We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead complex defense programs from capture and proposal through development, production, and deployment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver program results on schedule and within budget. This role is responsible for program planning, execution, financial performance, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic defense contracting environment. This is an on-site position.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or 5–8 years of progressively responsible program management experience
- 5–8 years of successful program management experience, preferably in a design/build or manufacturing environment
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with DoD acquisition policies and practices, including effective engagement with military organizations
- Experience managing U.S. Government DoD or USG contracts, including Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable contract types
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Familiarity with business and financial management principles preferred
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (active clearance preferred)
- Knowledge of firing range operations preferred
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead day-to-day management of assigned programs from inception through deployment
- Manage both development projects and production operations within program scope
- Define and manage program schedules, cost control tools, and scope management metrics
- Manage stakeholder expectations, including customers and executive leadership
- Monitor program performance to ensure achievement of milestones and objectives
- Manage program budgets and prepare cost status and performance reports
- Identify, assess, and manage program risks; develop risk registers and lead risk review meetings
- Develop and coordinate proposals, including bills of material, labor and ODC estimates, pricing, and risk assessments
- Lead and develop program team members in coordination with functional managers
- Recommend procurement of equipment, services, or supplies required to meet program objectives
- Review team work products for compliance with organizational goals and requirements
- Report program status, issues, and performance metrics to senior management
- Ensure compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Monitor industry developments, regulations, and best practices relevant to assigned programs
- Represent the organization at defense trade shows and industry events
- Perform other duties as assigned
