The Chief Engineer will work closely with program leadership to align technical scope, budget, and schedules while mentoring a high-performing engineering team and fostering a culture of innovation. This position is ideal for a systems engineering leader with extensive DoD experience, strong familiarity with Technical Data Packages (TDPs), and a passion for guiding complex programs to successful outcomes.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field); Master’s degree preferred
- 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior technical or engineering leadership role
- Extensive experience supporting DoD programs and applying systems engineering processes (e.g., PDR, CDR) across the program lifecycle
- Prior experience working with Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and program budgets
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- Willingness to travel as required
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide enterprise-level technical leadership across engineering disciplines in support of DoD program requirements
- Define, implement, and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and systems-level governance
- Lead design reviews, systems integration efforts, technical risk assessments, and Engineering Change Boards
- Partner with program management to align technical scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Represent engineering leadership in senior-level program and status reviews
- Mentor and develop engineering staff while promoting innovation and continuous improvement
