Position Overview
The Engineering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team and ensuring the successful execution of complex technical programs. This position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, operational execution, and leadership capability. The Engineering Manager will direct a cross-functional team of Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Systems Engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and resilient products that meet program requirements, schedules, and customer expectations.
This role is accountable for driving engineering execution, resolving complex technical and organizational challenges, strengthening engineering processes, and maintaining high standards of performance, quality, and accountability across the team. The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in advancing organizational objectives through disciplined execution, continuous improvement, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring engineers are prepared and able to deliver high-quality technical solutions and program outcomes
- Plan, assign, and track engineering activities to ensure program objectives, schedules, technical requirements, and deliverables are achieved
- Oversee engineering staffing, workload balancing, technical execution, and resource allocation across multiple projects and priorities
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide direct and constructive feedback, and address personnel or team performance issues in a timely manner
- Identify technical and organizational challenges, develop recommendations for resolution, and implement solutions that improve execution, productivity, and process efficiency
- Drive operational planning and engineering execution to achieve program milestones, customer commitments, and organizational goals
- Maintain clear, effective communication within the engineering organization and across Program Management, Production, Quality, and senior leadership teams
- Support the development, integration, and implementation of new technologies, technical solutions, and product capabilities
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, technical rigor, and execution excellence
- Mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical capability, leadership growth, and long-term organizational performance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline
- 5+ years of experience working in and leading engineering teams; experience supporting DoD programs preferred
- Demonstrated leadership experience across the full lifecycle of engineering programs, including acquisition, design, integration, and execution
- Strong project and personnel management skills, with the ability to lead and execute complex technical programs successfully
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Program Management, Production, Quality, and Design Engineering
- Working knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability and willingness to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as required
- Active Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is required
