About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing consulting firm that helps organizations address complex workforce and organizational challenges, strengthen leadership, navigate transformation, and improve business performance. As the firm continues to expand, they’re seeking an experienced Human Capital Consulting Engagement Manager to support federal and commercial clients.

This is a hands-on consulting leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding complex business challenges, determining what clients need, and guiding solutions from initial assessment through implementation. Rather than focusing exclusively on one area of organizational change, this individual will work across a range of human capital disciplines, including workforce strategy, organizational design, talent management, leadership development, and organizational transformation.

The Engagement Manager will work directly with senior executives and government leaders, take ownership of client engagements, coordinate and guide consulting teams, and identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships. As the practice grows, this individual will have the opportunity to assume broader responsibility for multiple engagements, client accounts, and consulting portfolio performance.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll:

  • Partner directly with executive and government leaders to understand complex organizational, workforce, and business challenges.
  • Independently assess client needs, identify underlying issues, and develop practical, tailored consulting strategies.
  • Lead consulting engagements from initial discovery and solution design through execution, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide strategic guidance across human capital disciplines, including workforce planning, organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, leadership development, culture, and organizational change.
  • Coordinate and guide multidisciplinary consulting teams, maintaining accountability for quality, outcomes, and client satisfaction.
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships and serve as a strategic advisor to senior decision-makers.
  • Identify additional client needs, contribute to proposals and solution development, and help expand existing accounts and generate new business.
  • Manage competing client priorities, engagement resources, and delivery expectations while maintaining strong communication and execution.
  • Partner with firm leadership to strengthen consulting capabilities, improve delivery practices, and support continued practice growth.
  • Grow into broader oversight of multiple engagements, client relationships, and consulting portfolio responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate brings:

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, strategic human capital consulting, organizational development, workforce transformation, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading consulting engagements from problem identification and assessment through solution development and implementation.
  • Broad knowledge of human capital and organizational effectiveness disciplines, with the ability to evaluate challenges that extend beyond a single specialty.
  • Experience advising senior executives, government leaders, or other high-level decision-makers on complex organizational or workforce issues.
  • Experience developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and contributing to proposals or business development efforts.
  • The ability to guide multidisciplinary consulting teams and take accountability for successful client outcomes.
  • Strong analytical thinking, executive communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving client environments and translating complex challenges into actionable recommendations.
  • The ability to balance hands-on consulting delivery with client relationship management and practice development.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • An active Secret Clearance is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.

Experience supporting federal or defense organizations, particularly in workforce modernization, organizational transformation, or mission-driven consulting environments, is highly valued.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing consulting practice while working directly with leaders facing complex workforce and organizational challenges.

You’ll have the autonomy to help clients define their challenges, develop thoughtful solutions, and see those solutions through implementation. You’ll also build long-term client relationships, contribute to business growth, and help shape how the consulting practice evolves.

For an experienced consultant who enjoys both the strategic and hands-on aspects of client work—and wants a path toward broader engagement and portfolio leadership—this role offers an opportunity to take the next step in their consulting career.
