The ideal candidate brings at least five years of relevant engineering experience, strong analytical skills, and hands-on knowledge of reliability methodologies such as FMEA, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, and reliability block diagrams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) plans and assessments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support the development, allocation, verification, and validation of reliability and maintainability requirements.
  • Perform reliability predictions, reliability block diagram modeling, and engineering trade studies to evaluate system performance and design alternatives.
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify failure risks and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to address reliability concerns.
  • Develop reliability test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria, including sample size considerations and statistical confidence requirements.
  • Support environmental testing, life testing, and reliability growth evaluations.
  • Analyze laboratory test results and field performance data to identify failure trends, estimate service life, and assess reliability metrics.
  • Investigate equipment and system failures, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective action verification.
  • Use Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS) or similar processes to track failures and support resolution.
  • Evaluate maintainability requirements, repair procedures, and maintenance data to improve serviceability and sustainment planning.
  • Prepare technical reports, RAM analyses, risk assessments, test documentation, and engineering recommendations.
  • Participate in technical reviews, customer discussions, and engineering program milestones.
  • Support compliance with applicable military standards, technical specifications, and program requirements.
  • Contribute to technical trade studies, proposal efforts, and engineering improvement initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintainability engineering, product assurance, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, probability, statistics, life distributions, and failure rate analysis.
  • Experience conducting FMEA, FMECA, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Experience developing reliability predictions, reliability block diagrams, and reliability or maintainability assessments.
  • Experience evaluating test data or field failure information and performing root cause analysis to support corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, environmental testing, and verification of complex hardware and software systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to engineering teams and customers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Applied Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting defense or aerospace systems and RAM program requirements.
  • Familiarity with military reliability and environmental standards, including MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472, or MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with reliability analysis and statistical tools such as ReliaSoft, Minitab, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Knowledge of Weibull analysis, accelerated life testing, reliability growth testing, or Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT).
  • Experience implementing or supporting FRACAS processes and closed-loop corrective action tracking.
  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) certification.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
