We are currently seeking a highly qualified Director of Accounting to lead and support our financial operations across multiple entities for a trusted organization within the defense industry.
Position Overview:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and performance of the Accounting Department. This individual will supervise staff handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, and general ledger functions using Deltek Costpoint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations and ensure compliance with federal regulations and accounting standards
- Manage general ledger accounts and reconcile accounts for all entities
- Prepare annual accounting and payroll calendars; maintain and update organizational structures and account configurations
- Lead the budgeting process and manage the company’s indirect rate structure, including forward pricing
- Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Coordinate internal and external audits; ensure timely resolution of any findings
- Calculate and/or review forward pricing rates in proposals using financial forecasting methods
- Review and update company accounting policies; assist other departments in maintaining aligned policies
- Provide audited financial statements to appropriate internal stakeholders
- Research and resolve complex financial issues related to DCAA compliance, payroll, liability, and more
- Utilize expert-level proficiency in Deltek Costpoint for general ledger, accounts payable, timekeeping, and expense reimbursement modules
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience within federal contracting environments, including multi-entity corporations
- Extensive experience with Deltek Costpoint (required) and QuickBooks
- Strong understanding of FAR and DFARS regulations
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing and mentoring finance teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- CPA or CMA certification
